India reports over 2.64 lakh new cases in 24 hours, Omicron infections at 5,753, Health News, ET HealthWorld
Also, there is an increase of 4.83% in Omicron cases since Thursday with a total of 5,753 infections having been detected so far, said a release from the Union health ministry.
According to the release, deaths from the virus came down from the previous day with 315 new fatalities reported on Thursday, the third consecutive day of 300-plus deaths. With this, the overall death toll reached 4,85,350 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33%, as per the health ministry.
Besides, India reported 1,09,345 recoveries in the last 24 hours while the total number of people recovering from the infection increased to 3,48,24,706. With this, India’s active caseload currently stands at 12,72,073, comprising 3.48% per cent of the total 3,65,82,129 infections, while the national recovery rate has decreased to 95.20%, the ministry said.
The country’s daily positivity rate of Covid-19 cases is 14.78% now while weekly rate is 11.83%.
As far as tests are concerned, a total of 69.90 crore samples have been tested so far, including 17,87,457 in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 155.39 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive. Also, over 15.17 crore balance Covid vaccine doses are available with the states/Union territories, said the ministry.
